I am an avid nature photographer. I enjoy every minute of it and am glad to talk to anyone about my photographs or anything nature-related. I particularly enjoy wildlife photography, but also anything flora/macro/landscape. I suppose my interest in wildlife comes from the fact that I am a veterinarian and have worked with many different species of animals in zoos and aquaria.
I very much enjoy traveling and have traveled to Africa, Australia, Japan and throughout North America and taken photographs in each place. This fall I will be visiting Costa Rica.
I use Nikon equipment - currently a D300 DX camera body as well as the 600 mm, 200 to 400, 70 to 200 and 18 to 200 lenses. I expect to soon add a D700 camera body to my equipment arsenal so that I can use the FX (full) sensor for some of my photographs.
In digital photography, Photoshop or other software is a big part of the production of outstanding photographs. I try to get as much right in-camera as possible, but I also enjoy modifying my photographs in Photoshop, including experimenting with abstract images. There is tremendous, often untapped, potential for artistry, innovation and originality using image software. I always am honest, however, about the modifications I make.
