I have been in the Pacific Northwest area for about four years now, and during that first summer enjoying all the nature that surrounds the Portland Oregon area, I began to wonder how best to capture these scenes to remember them by. I’ve always had an interest in photography but never had the equipment to try. With my first digital camera, it became a quick learning tool and convenient way to record my travels and my photography was born.
Then, with the purchase of my first D-SLR, the art has become an important part of my life. I now look at everything as if I were looking through the viewfinder and always planning the next shot. With each passing day, the Pacific Northwest does not disappoint one with opportunity for great photography.
Afterwards, and perhaps becoming more important these days, the picture is processed in a digital editor and that is where the real passion for my photography shows. As I try to emulate a scene, the file is sometimes left as I saw it and sometimes as I wish it were seen. To this end I try to employ traditional darkroom techniques applied digitally starting with Velvia like colors or various Black & White conversions, digital filters, and dodging & burning.
The final pictures shown here are painstakingly taken from camera to print to assure that I have made the best representation of the scene. Please take a look and enjoy!
