Hi! I am a certifiable nature fanatic and the proud father of four up-and-coming nature photographers. I began my life in photography as a boy and graduated high school self-employed as an equine and nature photographer. I spent the next decade chasing light and "God-craft" all over western North America, selling my images in fine art galleries and to numerous publications. I ended up stepping back from shooting professionally as I made the decision to enter full-time ministry as a pastor and now serve as president of CSB Ministries, but my oldest daughter carries my blood and has become fanatical about nature photography, dragging me back into the craft in earnest as well.
Over the years my work has been published by Arizona Highways, Western Horseman Magazine, Fly Fisherman Magazine and numerous other national and international publications. I am honoured to have my limited-edition prints as part of several private collections.
But my greatest claim to photographic fame is undoubtedly my kids (at least that's the stuff I'm most proud of!). At the age of 13, Jenaya's work has already been published by Canadian Geographic, WILD Magazine, CWF Wildlife Magazine (and the French version of that publication, Biosphere), as well as the Banff Crag & Canyon and Pincher Creek Echo. She was named runner-up in the prestigious 2010 Canadian Geographic "Wildlife Photography of the Year" Competition (Youth), and she and her sister, Marlise, won the Landscape and Wildlife categories (respectively) of the Canadian Wildlife Federation's 2010 "Focus on Nature" competition.
I also had the privilege of owning a fly fishing outfitting company for several years, spending time soaking up the spectacular environment of the Canadian Rockies around my home in Pincher Creek, Alberta.
My passion for and appreciation of the natural world is in fact rooted in the supernatural, and is best summarized by one of my favourite passages from the Bible:
God's glory is in tour in the skies,
God-craft on exhibit across the horizon.
Madame Day holds classes every morning,
Professor Night lectures each evening.
Their words aren't heard,
Their voices aren't recorded,
But their silence fills the earth:
Unspoken truth is spoken everywhere.
...That's how God's Word vaults across the skies from sunrise to sunset,
Meliting ice,
Scorching deserts,
Warming hearts to faith."
Psalm 19:1-6 (The Message)
