Dutch born but living in Tanzania, east Africa. With the Serengeti NP, Tarangire NP, Ngorongoro crater, Lake Manyara as my playground, you can imagine I am more often found in the bush with my cameras than behind my computer.
For my M/S biology I lived in the beautiful rainforest of Sumatra, Indonesia, studying wild orangutans for almost a year. I have worked as a photographer for National Geographic in Congo (Zaire) photographing the elusive bonobos, and for Wildlife Conservation Society in Congo Brazzaville to cover the studies to western lowland gorillas and chimpanzees. Film companies hire me as a specialist guide and still photographer for their documentaries about the African wildlife.
For years I have been managing safari camps in Uganda and Tanzania. Now, as a photo safari guide I like to share my passion for Africa and photography with you. I guide exclusive photographic photo safaris for groups and also private tailor-made photo safaris. I only work with small groups and try to avoid the crowd. Slowly approaching the wildlife and waiting for opportunities to get that one shot.
Photography for me is about emotion, the rhythms of nature and the cycle of life. Movement is an important part in many of my images as you can see in my portfolio and on my websites.
I like to share my passions and show others the wonders of the natural world.
