Derrald is an award-winning photographer who grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He started photographing at a young age and continued to explore the art in years to come. While pursuing a Computer Science degree at Creighton University he studied every photography course that was available. After college he continued to learn and develop his own technique and style of photography and settled on nature and scenic photography as his primary subjects. He continued to use manual style film-based equipment for several years. Later, with the advent of the digital camera, he was drawn to the ability to combine his technological background with his art.
Although he has travelled to many locations to find the perfect balance of subject and light, some of his favorite images were created within miles of his house. Currently, all of Derrald’s images are captured with a digital camera and the final image is processed with digital tools, but without extensive manipulation. In addition to nature photography, Derrald also photographs real estate and architectural photographs for local realtors. He continues to live and work in Omaha with his family.
