Dan Mangan recently began to exhibit his images professionally at a Pennsylvania gallery. His images represent a diversity of subjects and styles, largely drawn from nature, with an emphasis on sharp visual appeal, line and form, and creative interpretation. The recent work exhibited here originated with a Canon G2 digital camera. Any enhancements are done with Apple iPhoto and Adobe Photoshop CS technologies, all the while remaining essentially true to the subject before the lens. The computer used to process the images is a Mac v. 10.3.6, 17-inch PowerBookG4, among the best for photographic imaging work. The prints, all originals and hand signed, are produced on an Epson Stylus Photo 2200 printer utilizing 10 mil, RC-based Epson Premium Luster paper, and seven-color Epson UltraChrome™ archival pigment inks applied with Advanced Micro Piezo® printing technology at 2880 dots per inch. When properly displayed indoors under glass, the prints have a lightfastness rating of up to 71 years. Dan and his wife Edie Jardine reside in an 1810-era home near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
