I'm a native of the Pacific Northwest. My home town is Woodland, Wa, but I actually grew up in White Salmon, Wa with the Gifford Pinchot litterally in my back yard. I got my first SLR as a Christmas gift in 1985 - a month before my only son was born. It was a Pentax P3. Terrific little camera. I was immediately hooked, but never had the time or resources to make it a serious hobby. In 2000 I decided to get serious about my photography, and elevate my skills to craftsmanship. I don't feel I'm there yet, but Nature Photographer's Network has been an invaluable resource for learning, and pushing me closer to that goal.
In late 2004, I switched to digital photography. Although I still shoot slides occasionally, the vast majority of my work now is digital. Photography is my only creative outlet. Man, I can't even draw stick figures. Occasionally I'll write an essay, trip report, or photo itinerary to add a little more value, spark, and creativity to the process. This is also a great way to create self-assignments.
My favorite subjects are water, intimate land- and waterscapes, close-up/macro, reflections, sunsets, sunrises, and a particularly ornery dog named Hunter.
I shoot a Digital Rebel (D300). I own the 18-25 kit lens and a 70-200 f4 L, along with a small assortment of filters and other gadgets.
