I am an amateur photographer based in Alta Loma, CA. My introduction to photography came in the form of a point and shoot carried along on early backpack trips into the High Sierra. Initially, my intent was only to capture memories of my travels. However, as I began to notice the significant disconnect between my photos and my actual memories of the amazing places I visited, I became more serious about photography. I invested in a cheap film SLR along with a 24-85mm zoom and I was on my way.
Even as I work to develop my photography, my first love has been and will always be the experience of being with nature. It is this love that takes me back to the mountains, deserts and canyons again and again. I believe all art is an expression of feeling. For me, photography is an expression of my love for these beautiful places.
Galen Rowell has been the single biggest influence for me both in terms of photographic style as well as the mental approach to photography. I also greatly admire the works of Art Wolfe, David Muench and Ansel Adams along with some of the newer generation of photographers such as Guy Tal and Floris Van Breugel.
