Farmer in the Dell

While searching for BFs, I spotted this ant and her sisters tending to their aphid crop - this was the only clean shot from this encounter. Taken in the Catherine Creek Watershed - Columbia River Gorge.

180/3.5 @ f/22, MLU, extension, 500D and reflectors. A slight crop on the left and right margins

I just love this ant's translucence and the way it clings to the flower. Nice behavioral shot too along with the comp and color. I can't place the flower from the Catherine Creek area, so that's got me curious too.

This is fantastic, Will! The detail, setting and posture of the ant is great, but the soft sweet light makes this one for me.

It gives the subject a warm glow that is perfectly natural.
