Horned Grebe

I tried out my new duck boat today. It's a one-man, 9ft flatbottom, weighs 55 lbs. It will float in 6 inches of water and I can drag it into small wetlands. It's going to be a lot of fun! Canon EOS 5D, 500 f4, 1/3200, f5.6, ISO 400.

It looks like your new boat is going to do the trick. Nice low perspective on this shot Doug. The soft lighting is very nice. Great detail and I love that eye. :toast: :toast:

Really, really nice. Perfect focus. Lovely light. Ideal exposure. Nice eye contact. The low angle really tops it off. One of your very best posts, Doug.

Wow! This is terrific. The subject, pose, light and low angle are perfect. I've toyed with the idea of one of those boats, this image says that maybe I will have to think about it more seriously! :toast: :toast:

The boat is a great way to get a low perspective. This is a good looking grebe and you've captured a lovely serene image. The light on the head is excellent and shows up the eye very well.

The mood is serene with the beautiful low lighting and the detail is nice and crisp. I like how he is turned just enough into the light to illuminate the near side of the face. I have never encountered this species up close, so the eye is magically surreal! Thanks for posting this one!

I'm looking forward to seeing more beauty's like this one taken from your new duck boat Doug!

Great angle, light, detail in the darks, and I really like the eye contact here.

I also like that tiny white tip on the beak. It is like an exclamation point for the rest of the face!
