Stained Glass Tulips (w/ alt version)

Our tulips opened up this morning and later in the day I noticed this amazing light coming through them. I shot this image with a range of DOFs. I settled on a middle ground, but I'd like to hear what you think. More DOF or less--or does this work for you? Thanks for having a look.

This is absolutely stunning, literally took my breath away - even the thumbnail is tremendous. I would like to see different DOFs, but I think this one works very well. Nice eye!

Chuck...well done :toast: love the colors, lighting and comp. :toast: I like the DOF you have here but would be interested to see increased DOF to bring the front bloom in to sharp focus as well.

I think this was a perfect choice for DOF Chuck, and the backlighting on this is stunning.

Wow Chuck. What a winner! This is wonderfully done. I would not mind seeing one with more DOF, to get the FG (right) tulip sharper, but I love this as is too. Very creative use of light.

Outstanding as is. It really catches your eye and holds it. I like the DOF as is, but wonder if you could show one with the right FG tulip more in focus.

Thanks so much for the enthusiastic response to this image. I appreciate your comments. This second image was shot at f/16 and has a bit more DOF. I did not take any images with the front tulip in focus, as my intention from the outset was to have the second tulip be the focal point. Let me know if you think this works better.

The backlighting and color in these is fantastic Chuck. At first I was wishing that the FG tulip was more in focus, but now I think your DOF/POF is right where it needs to be.

Chuck, this is fantastic! I prefer the second. The OOF foreground in the first image is slightly distracting from the incredibaly sharp and glowing blossom on the left. Beautiful blending of crimson reds. The background looks like a sheet of glowing backlit drapery!! Thanks for sharing. Larry
