Guy,

I find this a very interesting photo. I like the fact that you used the body of the snake as a background. You also have chosen a fine depth of field to ensure that only the necessary areas are in focus.

Now, that's dramatic. Excellent use of shallow DOF.

Very scary. Composition and DOF not only fit but emphasize the nature of the subject. I notice you used a (long?) cable release.

Rather you than me taking this! Nice composition with the sharp head and using the slightly out of focus body as the background. You've caught the red eyes perfectly.

Oh my, that has IMPACT!

The direct look is very strong and the use of DOF is perfect. But what really adds a lot to the image is the pattern of the scales. Especially that beautiful curve from the top left to the bottom right is great! One could wish for a tongue sticking out, but one doesn't complain with such a strong image!

Really like the details in the head and the comp. Really like how the rest of the snake is out of focus.

Yikes, I find this image quite dramatic! What a shot. Fantastic DOF, and the head-on pose of the snake....sweet shot. :toast:

Pow! (As in "wow" but with more of a kick.) Thanks for sharing this terrific image and I agree with the others above about the focus, composition and depth of field. Just stunning.

Guy,

Congratulations on the EP. For what it's worth this is the finest shot of a reptile I think I've ever seen. An exceptional image, even given your normal work.

This is so beautiful and so horrifying at the same time. The glowing red eyes... I feel like I am staring at a gruesome death. A truly amazing image, Guy. Congratulations!

Very nice, congrats on the EP. I'd be tempted to crop a slice off the bottom and a tiny bit off the left.
