Our group, standing (L-R): Wayne Simpson, Tom Nevesely, Pete Carroll, Sam Chrysanthou; lying down: yours truly. Taken at Vermillion Lakes after our morning session.
Sunday was a beautiful day to be out shooting. Starting out at Vermillion Lakes, the day dawned cloudness but not too cold. We then went into town for coffee and some great discussion. Pete then had to leave us and I understand his daughter did very well in her dance competition and congratulations to her!
Midday, we headed up into Kananaskis country to scout out some possible sunset locations. There were some possibilities but, later in the afternoon, the clouds moved in and things weren't looking good.
After some discussion at the gas station on Hwy 40, we decided to call it a day. Wayne said he would keep an eye to the west while driving back and then possibly head back to Vermillion if the light got better. Sam and Tom headed off and I decided to follow Wayne. The light did indeed get much better as we drove back toward the Trans Canada. As it turned out, a chinook was in progress with the clouds clearly arcing over the foothills. With less than half an hour before sunset, Wayne and I pulled into Vermillion with Tom right behind us. The sunset light in the clouds looking east was awesome and the results are being posted, as you can see.
As we were getting ready to leave, Darwin pulled up. He and Kevin McNeal had been shooting just down the road! We chatted then headed over to Canmore for supper and some lively conversation. Kevin is incredibly full of energy and I was cracking up as he told us some of his shooting adventures (and mishaps)

. Darwin very generously picked up the tab for supper. Thanks again, Darwin!
Many thanks to Pete for taking the lead in organizing our get together. I met a bunch of great people and I hope we can do it again soon.

Too bad I missed out on all the fun of Part II of the day. We'll just have to plan another one.
Cheers
