An Open Invitation

This is a companion piece to Powdered Sugar.

This is Red Mountain but looking slightly to the NW. The mountain far off in the background literally is far away but I think part of the same chain.

Here, I was intrigued with the play between the mist and the morning light. It almost appears to beckon one to come and take a hike.

Shooting Data:
D200, 70-200mm, Manual Exposure, f/7.1, 1/640s, ISO 200, +1.33 EV, Tripod, Cable Release

Post processing in CS3 with curves adjustment layer and SS.

Until Red Mountain came into my life, Buffalo Mountain in Colorado was my favorite mountain. Now, I'm not so sure ...

I hope you enjoy the mountain as much as I do.

C&C more than welcome.

Carol

Seems to beckon cold to me. I like the interplay of blue sky, cloud and red rock.

I like the layers of blue/white/red and the mood added by the mist. What a rare treat.

Love the mist here, Carol, and that patch of blue sky works very well with the red rock and the white, snowy covering. Well done.

Carol, What I find unique is red rock and low hanging clouds which in my lifetime I have never experienced. That makes these a unique treat in my mind!

I like this Carol. It's a very dynamic image, and I love all the spindrift, if that's what you call that. Very nice.

Great colors and diagonal flow through the image. The mist/clouds are a wonderful element, too. Nice work, Carol!

The snow on that red rock does in deed look like a beautiful layer of powdered sugar, and it's beautiful. Wonderful diagonal flow of the cliff up to the top of the frame where the mist is.

Beautiful capture Carol.

Beautiful, Carol. I like the rising mist and the light covering of snow. It really brings out the texture of the hillside. Does make me think of cake.... which is making me hungry now. :toast: :toast:

Hi Carol. Yes, I really am enjoying this.

I have not been around for a while, so I just went back and looked at "powdered sugar." I have to say this looks even sweeter. Thanks for sharing your Red Mountain!

Oh, my! This is scrumptious, Carol. Way to fetch that light! Great exposure, nice layering of the different elements on the diagonal. Love the counterpoint of the peak in the luc. It adds an air of mystery in an alluring way. Nice, nice job on this one.

Carol,

Everything is coming together beautifully here. As been mentioned, the low hanging clouds/mist is a great treat to see on the red rocks and that blue sky really tops off the color combo. The snow is "snow-white" and perfect. Great job with this one.
