In Search Of Paradise

Just one thing stops this place being a complete photographers paradise, midges. At the time of year I took this namely late Spring the little darlings are swarming all over you. They are in your ears up your nose and their bite is out of all proportion to their tiny size. The situation was exacerbated by the relatively windless conditions but the bitingly sharp clean light persuaded me the effort was well worth the next days lumps.

Well... found! Despite the little darlings, I would say.

Sweet shot, Ian, I love it a lot. Unfortunately it seems tilted CCW. I know that's not, because if I look at the water I see that the horizon is straight. However I would try to reduce that sense of tilting, maybe warping down a bit the edge of the land on the right.

Excellent, Ian! Yes, you found a paradise for sure. Great capture of peaceful mood. I really like the dark clouds and their reflexion. The greens in the foreground create a great framing here. Beautiful.

Well you have captured this light just as you described. I am struck by the clean pure light and meticulous composition work in this harmonious Spring scene. I enjoy reading your field notes also, thanks Ian.

Its a great photo, but I think the operator of that little boat must have gone mad from the midges and drowned himself (leaving his boat in the middle of the lake).

Beautiful photo, Ian.

I got a taste of how evil those midges are in 2005 while making this photograph. They can really make photography difficult, especially for view camera users. They were swarming me under the darkcloth!

Sigh… If there were a perfect image, this is awfully close to my sense of one. Love it. Totally. Everything about it. Thanks, Ian, and congrats on the EP!
