Pearls of Web

I made this image last week. When I saw this dew laced web early in the morning I resisted my temptation of making yet another image of all dew drops in perfect focus. Instead chose almost an orthogonal plane to keep just a column of it in focus and rest blurred. Like some thing about it - not sure what it is(!) - may be its abstract nature. Like to know your views !

Nikon D200, Nikon 105mm f2.8 micro lens plus two PK-13 extn rings, f8 @ 1/1600sec, iso100, full frame.

Larger version of the same is here at my home.

Beautiful, Ganesh! I like your chosen DOF here a lot! Also the lack of color adds to the abstract feeling. :toast:

Really well done Ganesh. I'll be nitting - only because I like this so much and I know you appreciate a critique. There is a rod-shaped artifact almost in the center of the image. Since it has color - it grabs my attention. But mostly - the oof drops on the left side are beautiful the ones on the right side are not nearly as luminous. I am wondering if this would be stronger, cropping off the right and presenting this in a square format. Just a thought...

Thanks Will - appreciate your views. I agree with you about that tiny colored rod shape a bit of distraction. Thought of cloning it but then left it as it is since that was a tiny spectrum caused due to refraction. About the square crop I suspect image may look a bit static - of course it is a personal preference. Thanks again..

Thank you all for your views :wavey:

Hello Ganesh, I like this and your choice of focus point is spot on, The composition works really well for me as the out of focus drops lead nicely into the focused drops. I would agree with Will about the rod of colour, I also feel as though it does not belong. :wavey:

This is excellent, Ganesh. I need to stop looking at birds and see what's in the other forums here. I almost missed this. Congrats on the EP! :toast: :toast:

As usual, Ganesh, this is killer :) I love this off-parallel approach.
