Five Aspens

I awoke to about three inches of fresh global warming yesterday in the Maroon Creek valley, and after spending the first part of the morning shooting the classic Maroon Bells reflection shot at Maroon Lake, I moved down into the cold shadows of the valley to see what else I could find. This is one of many scenes I was delighted to come across. Please forgive the jpeg compression loss of detail and color.

This is so wonderful.
If it was possible I would try to hide, in the capture moment, the pine tree in the back of the aspen tree.

Todd wonderful stuff Ilove the Autumn winter divide and this is a most pleasing use of it. A gorgeous soft light and I am sure it will make a fabulous print.

Awesome, and it takes some discipline i guess not to post the icon, but to post this one. But since this is excellent it might have been not that hard. Well done!

Fantastic shot--and not just because of the exceptionally compelling subject matter. I really like how you've composed this, with the tilted "V" of the aspens.

I'd love to see a very large print of this.

Todd, since I don't wish for "The Mother of All Landscape Photographers" to take your thunder I'll say this is a sweet shot. I love the contrast of the aspens and the snow. This image no doubt is best viewed in a print; compression is a real killer on these types of shots.

Thanks for sharing

Clearly a winner - I would look at this rather than another classic Maroon Bells shot - just beacuse I dont get the chance to see this too often. Too exquisite - great find and great presentation

That is really easy on the eye! For me this is a much more refreshing subject than another fine shot of the bells. This has an "I can smell it and feel it" look to it that makes me want to be there.

Not just a beautiful abstract image in its own right, but also a wonderful illustration of the transition of the seasons. Autumn sure was a short one this year.

Todd,

Ok I'll forgive you since this is just stunning. I love the subtleness of the aspens mixed in with all the other branches. The perfect amount of blue toning in the snow also helps balance out the yellow. great work.
