WC# 289 Chaos

I had named this chaos long before the weekly challenge. I took this at Bosque del Apache in 2005. I am continually amazed that these birds can take off in mass like this and not run into one another. I always thought this would make an extremely difficult jigsaw puzzle.

D70, 400 mm Tokina, f13 @ 1/400, ISO 200, tripod

Comments appreciated.

When I looked at the thumbnail, I never imagined it would be this maze of birds! I wonder the same thing about the mass takeoff. True chaos!

Intriguing shot, love the tight crop. A pity the low perception in the WC section

Mike,

This is incredible! I've had the chance to witness scenes like this in the Tule Lake/Klamath basin. It is truly a site to behold. What is nice here too is that there are a handful of snow geese up front so that the eye doesn't get too wary looking at this.

I'd call this a winner in the early voting, but I'm not the moderator.... :-)

This would make a killer puzzle...one I wouldn't attempt! Great submission for the challenge.

Great image, I think you nailed the theme. I looked over the whole image, can't find one open space between the birds. And you're right about the jigsaw puzzle!

You're absolutely right: this would make a wonderful, headache-making jigsaw puzzle. Nice job of getting the shot without getting run over by the geese.
