I believe this is a Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Harmonia axyridis) in a daisy patch. For 30+ mins. I watched this tiny beetle roam on a daisy, preen itself and roam again. After preening it would sit still for 20-30 secs before it ventured off again - that's when I was able to shoot.

105/2.8 @ f/8 - almost full frame (about 5% crop)

I like this very much. The composition is nice with the petals and the yellow spot in the background. And I really like the light. The white flowers are bouncing light around quite nicely. It has a nice luminance quality to it.

Very nice, Will. The flower and that great BG would stand on their own, but the LB really makes this one special. I really like the detail you've captured in the white petals.

Hi Will,

Very nice composition with regards to the placement of the beetle. The strong colors of the beetle really look good among all the whites of the flower. I am a little dissappointed that you are not finding some exotic bugs up in the Northwest. Heck, I can find one of these down in the swamps.

Wow, Will, what a spectacular shot. I love it. Having just the one petal in focus with the oof daisy in the bg is just right to show off this colorful little bug. Good going!

What a fitting composition for an Asian beetle, Will. Looking at the thumb made me think of an oriental scroll. The soft colors and pure whites make for a subtly stunning image. Bravo!

Thank you all for the generous and kind words.

Ronnie - Tell me about it. This area is devoid of bugs! Never seen a place with so few little critters (except bees and flys). I am now just starting to see a few DFs and a few Whites fluttering about. But that's really it. We are in a hot spell right now so maybe things will pick up soon. But I must say the summer weather here is delightful.
