Typical Photo Shoot

Here's a shot of me taking a shot of a Canyon Treefrog that my youngest daughter had discovered in Sabino Creek. I usually get to photograph only those creatures that don't seem to mind the high energy level of a 4-year old.

This shot was taken by my wife with her compact P&S. I'll post another shot of me taking a picture of a rattlesnake on the same trip.

Here's the link to the image captured of the treefrog: http://www.pbase.com/pegsam/image/76855482

I really do enjoying learning from all of you here at NPN. Thanks for looking.

Hi Sam, It's very nice to see you ..er, well, almost see you, but I am sure the one we can see so well is the gorgeous one in your family... I've enjoyed interacting with you in the fauna gallery. It's pretty obvious that we share a love for herps... I looked at your canyon tree frog - neat critter! The only one I have ever photographed was in my beloved Cave Creek in the Chiricahuas. Anyway, I'll bet that this is one child that won't grow up terrified of snakes.

Hi Terry -

Sorry about the lack of facial features in the shot. Trust me, we are all better off with as little of that as possible. You are right about my daughter and snakes. Here's a shot of her holding a young Desert King snake.

Hi Sam, what is that shoulder mount you are using? Bushhawk?

Jim -

Although this looks like a shoulder mount it's not. I am using a Bogen / Manfrotto heavy duty monopod with their 322RC2 Grip Action Ballhead. The monopod converts to a tripod, but the legs aren not independently adjustable. The 322RC2 allows for some adjustment of the camera position. I've only used this tripod configuration once to take a picture. It worked nicely. Thanks for asking.

Here's the shot of me taking a picture of a rattlesnake. Note that I've lost my little photography "helper" --> and only because I would not let her get too close to the area. I am born and raised in Arizona and know to respect rattlesnakes; hopefully I will be successful in passing that respect on to my children.
