A self portrait using a Canon EOS1D on a Gitzo tripod, and a remote - shooting the author with a EOS1DS and a 500 F/4 IS, on another Gitzo. Up on a dike, on Fir Island, by LaConner Washington. Shooting the Trumpters Swans as they lift off the water at first light.

Hi Tom,
I like your treatment of the scene, the elements of the photo are in the right place and the silouette stands out well.

What's interesting here to me is that it breaks the compositional rules about the sbject looking into the frame. Here, the fact that you are looking out of the frame makes me wonder what you are pointing your camera at.

Scott,
Every year, thousand of Snow Geese, along with Trumpter and Tundra Swans - pass through the Skagit. The birds rest on the water, to stay safe from preditors, and then take off at first light to seek food. They are in this area for about 12 weeks, so the opportunites are almost endless!
