I am not sure whether this is a kind of Lizard or a Rock Agama.
I was scouting y'day morning for birds then found this.
Nikon D200+600mmf4+tc14e, close to full frame.

As always thanks in advance for your views.

way too cool, I love the black bg and natural colours through out. Great job on focus and dof!

Great light, detail, and comp on this. Were you messing with him to get the pose or did he do this on his own?

Sam, 600mm f4 lens means I am atleast 18 ft away from it ! I made lots of images waiting for some action. It was trying to capture some insect when I made this.

Shocked that this post didn't illicit more response! Amazing detail you've captured here and the open mouth with the tongue is just so very compelling that I don't miss the other half of the subject at all. I have managed very few (if any?!) successful vertical shots of lizards that don't include the whole body...so, very impressive, if you ask me. I think you have answered this question before, but are you achieving that black background simply by finding a shadowy area behind the subject? Also, out of curiosity, what type of tripod set-up do you use?

Harsi,

The black background is due to the shaded area behind the rock. I use Gitzo 1500 plus Wimberley head with my Nikon 600mm f4 af-s lens. Thanks for your views.

Incredible! The black BG makes this even more so. Amazing detail and clarity. Congrats on the well deserved EP.
