Smoke & Fire

Rivers & Streams are my favorite subjects to photograph so this is the perfect WC Theme for me. This is from the Tremont area in the Smokies. I like the smoky effect of the water and the fiery colors of the foliage.

Hey Kirk, this is a really nice image. Great fall color and the water highlights contrast very well. :toast:

Beautiful. I agree - the cool misty water coupled with the crisp warm leaves is very cool.

Perfect capture Kirk. I like the fantastic autumn colors and the color contrast (trees & "smoky" water). Well done. :toast: :toast:

I'm a huge fan of this photograph for obvious reasons (it rocks), but I hope you don't mind me making a suggestion. Crop up from the bottom to just ever so slightly below the first row of rocks. There's lovely detail everywhere but that bottom stripe of black.

Lovely rich tones & colours. The flow of the river is ideally caught.

Kirk,

Great color, and color saturation; the overcast lighting make this a very pleasing scene. I normally haven't liked polarized stream shots, but this works very well and silky water flow is exposed just right.
Personally, I vote for no crop. I think the water without the silky flow gives the image a strong base. What I also find interesting is that it seems that most images of streams have the water flowing towards the viewer. I really like this perspective of the water flowing away, drawing the eye in to the image.

Very nice,
Lon

I like it too.

Makes me want to wander into the scene and jump from rock to rock.

Thanks for all of the positive comments and the EP is very nice. To me this image represents how an artist's passion for his/her subject translates through their work. I spend a lot of time on the river photographing, canoeing, and flyfishing. I feel very much at peace on the water as it serves as my escape. This scene captured me as soon as I saw it and motivates me to get out and experience more..hopefully it will do the same for you.
