After seeing Leann Greene's zoomed landscape, I decided to try the technique on my orchids. I zoomed my orchid with a 70-200 at about 8 seconds, inverted the colors because I liked the contrast better and found beautiful birds in flight. All comments or suggestions are truly appreciated. Thanks for looking. Also let me say there has been some OUTSTANDING Photo Art happening here lately. Way to GO.

It really works. It strongly resembles a pastel or graphite work done on a textured paper.
Very nice.

It almost looks like a winged mythical beast headed for us, DUCK.... If you want to maintain the orchid a little bit more, it should be easy with an 8 sec. exposure. If you still have it set-up, try this Renae - zoom at the last 2-3 seconds. That should burn the image in somewhat more prior to the blur. You may also like that effect. That's how I zoomed for the image 'The Light' from a couple weeks ago.

VERY cool Leann. I love the effect. At first I thought this was hummingbirds. I love the streaks of color. A great effect.

I'm posting a redo somewhat lighter because a very good friend pointed out it was too dark on her monitor. I have a new one, not quite calibrated yet, so here's version two.

I love what you did with this Orchid, Renae! My choice is the repost.

Good work! Let's see some more!

Wow Renae this is really something! I never would have guessed it was orchids! Definitely a striking image. The light spot in the middle is what makes it come alive. I'd be interested to see the image without the inverted colors too. :toast:

I come back again and again to revisit this image. Somehow the lines and colors capture my interest even though I usually prefer at least some portion of an image in-focus. Your placement of the flowers lets your imagination go wild and I, as many others did, came up with a humming bird and butterflies.

Hi, everyone, thank you for the feedback. I have a question, in case anyone comes back, how would I get the detail to show here. The center of the pic has lots of detail in the petal and the edges of the hummingbirds in the upper right are sharp. The jpeg conversion, even with extra sharpening, doesn't show it, and I didn't want to sharpen too much because it is an imagination piece. Alice, I tried it not inverted but the white lines are too much and it loses all continuity. Thank you all for looking and your comments which are invaluable to me.

Wow! Inspires me to try new techniques. This is wonderfully creative. I never would've guessed the original subject; that must''ve been a fun surprise for you, too. Thanks for posting this and including some of the details of the technique. Sure appreciate it. :toast: for the EP.

Congratulations Renae on the EP! You had several great images the last couple of weeks... my favorite was the Paintbrush, but this image certainly was the most original of all those posted. Nice going!
