Over in 60 Seconds

It had been raining all night and the fog was thick in the morning. I decided to do some closeups at my favorite stream. The camera was set on manual, spot meter and mirror lockup. As I turned towards the stream the sun broke from the clouds. I managed to get off a few shots before the scene disappeared. I was lucky to get this one. This was taken on Jan. 6. High for the day - 71 degrees. Go figure.

Nikon D200
Tamron 70/300
B+W Pola
C&C Always welcome.

John, the BEST 60 seconds of photography maybe in your life. The red leaves in the FG are just a perfect cap to this unique image overall. Very impressive scene indeed. :toast:

Simply majestic! If I were you, I would go somewhere and buy a lottery ticket. All luck aside, substantial talent to set up and capture this one, to be sure.

What an inspiring and dramatic light show. Just think how fortunate you are to not only have witnessed it but to also capture it so well to share with the world!

 Great diagnals throughout, and of course, magical light. The red leaves at the bottom are a fantastic bonus. And though the good light made the shot, give yourself a hand for knowing how to capture it so beautifully! :toast: :toast:

I like everthing about this photo. You have captured a great moment perfectly. It's often so difficult to explain to people why being outdoors is so enjoyable. Photos like this say it for you.

A really great shot. The right place at the right time with the right eye. Sometimes it all just comes together. One of your best to date. Hope we both get some more like this! It would be interesting to see as b&w.
I told you digital was great!

Jeez, John. This is gorgeous. I wonder if you have enough detail in the darks to bring out more detail in the shadows, but this is superb. I love how the light rays are parallel the tree trunks.
