Yep. Here I am again. I was actually in a better mood than I look. A huge parka and about 4 other layers on because it was around zero degrees at the time 7000 feet up, in Glacier NP in November. It was fogged over and there wasn't much else to shoot so I set up and snapped a few self-portaits with a tripod mounted camera on 10-second delay. This Sierra Designs solo tent that is my home up to 100 days each year. It's small but comfortable.

Hi Marc,
nice to see you!

I envy your tent ;-)...it is a lot of time that I plan to buy a decent tent but I haven't decided yet wich one to get. How much does it weight your tent? What is its temperature limit?

Thanks in advance for the info :toast:

You are one crazy dude. Zero degrees w/o gloves. I need a new tent as well, i ripped mine in the eastern sierra over a year ago and haven't found a suitable replacement.

I had temporarily taken off the gloves to fiddle with the camera. I usually wear lighter-weight gloves under really heavy ones during such conditions when I'm using the camera a lot. That's my one regret about the photo (that and I'm not exactly smiling). I should have put them back on.
I have three tents and a bivy sack. This one is used most often. It's seen 40-mph winds and holds up decently. It weighs only 2 pounds 12 oz. Juza, there is no temperature rating given to tents, but my sleeping bag inside the tent is a Marmot bag rated to -20F/-28C.

Marc,

Can't help but to admired your will to get out and hike and shot in that kind of weather! Being I'm from the South I don't think I'll be hiking in any of them conditions soon.

Looks like you're becoming one with the wilds around you here  How were you charging batteries out there, were you just charging them when you got back to your car?

Ha! I love it. I have the same home... it's nice to take just the fly and floor and leave the tent behind. Here's me in Colorado on a much warmer day.

This reminds me of the conditions here in Florida last weekend! Yeah, right. Love the photo and conditions in general, but I think I'll just enjoy them from a distance. Great Member Photo.

Marc, those are some piercing eyes! No wonder you have such great photographic vision! After admiring your work for some time, it's nice to see the extent of the effort required to get the image. Nice to meet you.

Sierra Designs should give you an endorsement contract. The snow is gray on my monitor. It's supposed to be calibrated (my monitor, not the snow), so little luminosity level adjustment might be in order.

You know, Pete. It actually was grey. This is a 2-second exposure at twilight, 7am.
