Spring Tulip with Repost

Since all the flowers are gone, in searching disks I found this spring tulip taken with Canon 20D, using 75-300 IS lens. There was nothing technically wrong with the image but I felt it would be a good subject to work with and make into something that stands out.

All comments welcome.

Hi Pat!! Ooooh!!! I like this ALOT!!! How pretty, hopefully you saved the process. This would be really pretty BIG and framed and would sell easily, I bet!! I love the soft background!!!

Patricia,
Overall I like the treatment you've applied here. I might like it better if the dark edge on the petals in front wasn't quite so pronounced. I also think lightening and softening the background under the flower might help a bit.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Steve. I intentionally increased the saturation of the flower because its soft colors blended into the background and the picture didn't work. I also tried darkening the original background of other flowers. Really the only processes used here were accentuating the edges and a vignette blur. To me the slightly darker area around the flower gave the image dimension. All that said, I will try your suggestions and if they work I will repost. Thanks again Steve for being upfront and giving constructive criticism.

Okay Steve I've reworked the image in an attempt to implement your suggestions and now I really don't know which I like better. Let's have a vote!

Hi again! Looking at both, I almost can't decide which I like better...they are both nice but I think I do prefer the original. Again, good job!!!

Hi Patricia, I like the first version the best, the edges give it dimension and seperation from the surrounding space. It's really a beautiful image, so light and airy. I could see it in a large bright foyer. :toast:

the original is a more dynamic image, IMO, Patricia, beautiful colors.

Hi, Patricia,
I LOVE your original post. What a gorgeous rendition of the tulip and its surroundings. Oh yes, this deserves a primary place for viewing in a grand foyer! Just stunning!
