Spider's Face

10D, 180mm macro, 1/200, f19, 550EX, handheld

I just love these jumping spiders....so much personality. This one was very attentive to what I was doing, but patiently waited until I'd completed my shots before hopping off to another rudbeckia. Although you can't tell much from this view (I'll post a full body view later), the spider's coloration was a bit unusual....reds and oranges on the back....perhaps a camophlage mechanism?

Hi Terry,
it's a bit tight, but the magnification and the eye contact amazes me. The tecs are spot on.

WOW - now THAT'S an in-your-face shot!! Excellent job, Terri - I can never seem to get real close to these guys...they end up jumping on my lens in attack mode..LOL

Now thats a face. More whiskers than me Terri. I won't mention the "P" word but its brilliant anyway. Excellent detail and DOF for the ratio. Flash work is spot on.

All the best Terri, fine macro work.

Danny.

Terri,

Excellent macro work on this one. Eye level presentation, good DOF and very sharp, what more could you want. Nice job.

Congratulations on the editor's pick, I like the tight crop as it emphasises the facial detail on the spider. Great sharpness.
