Water Lily - Lilypons Water Gardens

I have spent a lot of time at Lilypons this summer during lunch breaks from the office (7 miles away). It is a real treasure to have it so close - 10 minutes each way plus 40 minutes of shooting is just perfect.

Comments and critique encouraged.

Really gorgeous,Walter. Even though 99% of the time I believe in "found" images, it would not bother me to see the stem behind the lily cloned out. Either way, it's a great image. I was down there again the other day, and thought I saw you as I was pulling out of the parking lot.

Beautiful! The light really seems to glow from the center of the lily, and the water drops are wonderfully sharp! :toast:

Walter,

here is a good example of a "bullseye" image that really works. You have the lily pads on the upper right and lower left that frames the lily really well.

5 stars!

Walter,
I really like how the background is not distracting with the DOF it has. Perfect exposure. Nice job.
Is this film or digital with PP?

This is a digital capture - Nikon D200 Raw Capture, post processing with Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop CS2. Some ACR adjustments as usual, but no Photoshop adjustments.

How distracting is the grass blade that creeps into the upper left and the dead reed that comes down from the top? Those are easily cloned out if that would improve the image.

Yes that would help to clone out the upper left pieces, and I would clone out the little white spot in the lower right connected to the bud. Hope you don't mind me suggesting.

Thanks Jack. I don't mind the suggestion at all. That is the purpose of this forum. By the way, that little white spot in the lower right is a reflection where the stem meets the water. I agree it is a little distracting. Thanks for the suggestion and feedback.

Another great capture Walter! The dew on the petal/flower is great! Great lighting! Maybe I will see you there sometime.
