I really like this Michelle! There's something very inviting about the curve of that path (I like the perspective you chose!) and the woods. Looking at this, what I'm most struck by is the strong illustrated quality that this has: the tones are reminiscent of watercolors, and everything has a sort of clean and toothy look to it like paper. The trees, especially, are very stroke-like and expressive. This is a neat piece of work; I just know I'll be taking many more looks at this.

I thought the terrain looked familiar!
Very nice Michelle. I love the 'tunnels' the cedars make down here in central Texas and you've added the stairs leading to 'somewhere.'
Sorry 'bout the sweat....it is Texas afterall

Wasn't sure about this at first. But the more I look at it the more I like it. Kind of gives me a feeling of standing there looking into the scene. Very good.

I like this Michelle. Interest comment that Ana made that it looks like paper...this may be a good candidate for some filters to further bring out that look. See what you come up with and post it in Photo Art!!

Yes, this is fantastic! I love the subtle curve and height gain through the frame. Well done!

Very cool feeling here.....like no place I've ever been. And I love the curve of the path leading to who knows where.....

yo michelle,
don't know if you "pre-visualized" the itchy and scratchy thing..if not, this photograph certainly verifies G Winogrand's comment, "I photograph something to see what it will look like photographed."...
i like what this looks like photographed...

Thanks, everyone for the comments!
Scott, sorry for landing in your backyard without calling first. I thought the landscape was looking familiar! I was here for an Army course and decided to stay for a week's vacation.
Ana, I thought it looked like a path in a haunted forest with the way the cedars crowd in and get all dark and seem to reach in. I just had to take the shot! I just love the textural quality of these cedars, as you may see...
Mark, I was catching my breath, sitting on a brick and stone retaining wall that overlooked the waterfall (not much of a waterfall, by our standards, but I am sure in a flash flood it is something else), and looked up at what was left to climb. I had been suffering a migraine for two days and was just forcing myself to go out anyway, since this was my "vacation" and I wasn't going to let a migraine ruin it. The creepy, textural qualities of the cedars really struck me. Maybe it was the headache meds, but anyway, as I mentioned to Ana above, it seemed like a haunted forest. I guess that was what I saw before I decided to take the photo.

You keep getting better and better! I think this one has more impact with about the top 15-20% cropped off. That puts more emphasis on the steps.

I like Kent's suggestion - crop off the top to square and the stairs stand out better.
Very nice regardless!

Michelle: Wonderful image that somehow I missed. I am ashamed to say I've never been to Pedernales Falls although I pass it by regularly in the Spring on my flower hunts in the Hill Country. Looks like I need to make it a priority. Congrats on a well-deserved EP. >=))>
