hi together,
this is our first posting after passively enjoying the photography on this site for quite a while. We are large format landscape shooters (4x5") based in Vienna, Austria, so the ESS gallery will be our main target. Being professional landscape photographers, trying to balance business and family life with two little children, doesn' t leave much time to post and comment, but we promise to give our best...
This one photograph (a very slightly cropped version from the original) was made in Lower Austria an area with many small ponds. The exact location was scouted out the day before and then shot one hour before sunrise.

Welcome to NPN. Hope to see many more of your images. This is a real beauty. The brialliant color FG grabs, then the diagonal canal seems to lead your eyes right to the mist covered pond. Absoultely beautiful. Well done.

Thanks for the technical info as well. Do you remember the shutter speed?

Absolutely beautiful shot, lovely soft tones and a delicate pink sky to support the pink fireweed? on the bank. I'm very impressed.

Welcome to NPN Verena and Georg. I like the subtle lighting in the scene and the splash of color with the fireweed? is a wonderful touch.

Superb image. I understand your struggles about balancing the business and family life. In my experience, most who set aside time for both and use words like "balance" are doing a fine job. I hope we get to see many more posts because this one was a treat to view.

Welcome to NPN. I am looking forwards to seeing some beautiful landscape shots from Austria. I hope you will target the Man and Nature gallery too.

I enjoy the combination of colors and the quiet mood in this one. It is beautiful.

Wow, we are speechless and overwhelmed by all this encouragement! Thanks to all!
Bill, the exposure time was most likely a few seconds, since we stopped down to at least f32 or f45.
For those who wanted to know: the english name for the flower is , we think, Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria).
Prashan, yes we are the authors of "Naturjuwelen", so you must be the one who bought it, eh...
 the scan for this version here was made at home with a simple flatbed. (canoscan 9900), the book version, of course, was drum-scanned.

Welcome! Wonderful Austrian scene that doesn't include the Alps!

I was born in the eastern part of Austria (Burgenland) and find that part of the country very under represented in photographs. Looking forward to many more of your landscapes.

Welcome to NPN. Great to see someone from EU. I was born there (Czech), but wasn't back there for a while.

Very nice image. Love the colors and calmness of the photo.

Red or magenta wildflowers in landscapes cannot be beat. These wildflowers with tall thin spikes obviously make for an ideal image with large format as it screams impressive detail. The distant cool air fog flow atop the lake and your choice of shooting the dawn earth shadow really is technically perfect. Your processing from the usual Velvia overly red saturation is quite natural looking and the way I like to see photographers use that film. I'd love to make such an early/late image anywhere near this good some day. Hope to see more of such incredible European scenery in the future. ...David

It doesn't look like a long exposure, but an hour before sunrise surely it must have been. The air must have been perfectly still.

An absolutely beautiful photo!
