Birch Bark

This high-key image is from a birch tree (I think) that had fallen across a small, snow-covered creek bed. Two strips of bark were peeling away from the trunk and curling. This is one of those strips. I took several shots and will probably be posting others in the coming days.

Other than a slight increase in contrast, which removed the slight shadows on the snowey background, and a tad of sharpening, I didn't do any post-production work.

Thanks for looking. Critiques are appreciated and heeded.

Very nice image Kent... definite fine art look to it. Have you tried it in B&W?

Hey Kent, I love this image. Very well done on the comp, and Iike the high key. Texture and shades in the bark look great. Good light. :toast:

Thanks, all. This is one of those lucky finds one stumbles upon while looking for something else. I thought this image was the strongest that I took of the series. I guess I should have saved it for last instead of first.

Kent - I really like this image. The detail is fantastic & I'm a huge fan of bark. It really stands out on the white, almost like a studio image. Well done! :toast:
