Young Red Fox

Usually I concentrate shooting birds, but last summer I found a fox-burrow with several young ones, and couldn't resist taking a few shots

Unfortunately I had to crop quite a bit off the original.
I'll appreciate any feedback.

This is great. I love how he\she stands out from the green grass. Very nicely composed as well.

Nice image with great "Foxy" eyes  I might suggest running the file through a noise reduction program before other adjustments. Large crops make the noise more apparent.

This is one of my goals for the coming summer also. Just seeing one of these guys is a victory.

Beautiful shot. I really like the color combination and even though a large crop the fox looks quite sharp. My only nit is I might crop a tad off the top to eliminate the bit of brownish color and make an all green background. Again, great shot. :toast:

Sweet expression and the contrast to the grass is very nice.

Lucky you! I'd love to photograph young foxes and and this is a nice shot for sure. I like the OOF-grass but IMO it's a bit too dark compared to the rest of the grass (what was causing this shadow on your forground?). If I were you I'd crop off the brown top of the image. :toast:

Thank's everyone. I have tried your suggestions for the crop (to eliminate the brown) and noise reduction. Looks somewhat better now

This fox den was easy to find as it was in the middle of a large grass field. The young ones explored the surroundings of the den in the late afternoon and could be seen playing around in the grass from quite far away. I hope they use the same den this year.

Love the expression! We had some gray foxes for awhile, but I didn't have a good camera at the time...wish some reds would move in here.

Did you get to watch them play as they grew? Our family of grays would let us watch while the young ones learned to hunt grasshoppers.

First of all congrats on this pick! I love the angle and the obvious curiosity of the fox. The BG is lovely. Great photo :toast:

The red fur of the fox contrasts very nice to the green grass. A very nice simple composition makes the image very easy to look. Simply a very good photo.
