Tangerine Dream

A wonderful glowing tangerine sun in a sky veiled by sea fog is responsible for the fantastic blending of colours. I have always liked a large percentage of my image dedicated to the most important elements and will forego the natural rules of composition to facilitate it, hence the huge proportion of sky to land. The group of trees is vital to provide a strong anchor to the image. Incidentally this is an accurate scan of the original Velvia transparency

What beautiful color! I agree the group of trees anchors the image and I also like the hint of mountains in the distance. I might even like less foreground, and crop to just above the diagonal line.

Jerry , Randy, would you believe Scotland!! not winter though, mid September. For those Scottish members you can see this group of trees from the A96 Nairn to Inverness Road, approximately 5 miles West of Nairn. Look toward the Moray Firth. My dream would be similar lighting with the mountains behind covered with snow. Perhaps when the next ice age commences.

Oh my, this is just amazing. The sky is surreal and the scene feels vast and ancient. Truly a masterpiece.

Thanks to everyone for there kind comments. Hi Jerry, Scotland is both stunning and fickle (weather). I have little doubt that you would love it. My intention is to start leading tours at the end of this year. I'm enjoying being out there too much at the moment. Contact me if you feel the urge to come over and see this place for yourself. The Scottish castles will blow you away too, character oozes out of every ruined battlement.
