I visited Puerto Rico for a few days last week and found a little time to take some photos. This is the bird of Puerto Rico, a smaller than sparrow sized bird that is hard to capture clean.

Canon 1D, 500 F4, ISO 200, f5, AV -2/3, FF -2 1/3, 1/320 sec.

Rob, you did a great job to capture it clean.
I like it.

Rob, this is KILLER! Having spent time around these guys in Costa Rica, I know how difficult it can be to get a good shot (I didn't get any :frown: ). Not only is this a good one, it's fantastic!! Congrats!

Very nice!

You almost gave me a heart attack, until I saw this was taken in Puerto Rico. This is one of the most wanted rarities, with about 30 records from southern Florida listed in America's 100 Most Wanted Birds. It's the sort of thing that makes mostly sane NJ birders drive nonstop to the FL Keys when one is reported.

Well done!

Great shot of a bird that I have never seen a good photo of to my recollection.

This is razor sharp, and the stuff in the beak (nesting material?) is added interest. :toast:

Excellent shot!

Nice to see different species. I've never seen this, even not in a guide .

Thanks for posting!

Great Bananaquit shot. Love the pose, and the nesting material(?) in the beak is a real plus.

These little guys would show up at out breakfast table in St Lucia to feed on the marmalade, but they moved so fast, I didn't get a good picture of them. They also would work the drips off the liquor bottles at the bar!

Beautiful bird, beautiful shot. The lower left corner is a bit distracting, but besides that a great one!

Super shot, so clear and sharp with a great bg. Most attractive little bird and nice that he has the twig in his beak. Lovely
