WC 197 Swallowed

Taken in Kakadu NP Australia. I watched this common tree snake kill and swallow this frog just under me on the bird hide I was standing in at the side of a swamp. I took a whole series of it but I think this is the best. I was restricted to this angle by the position of the snake on the hide.

there used to be a drawing of a heron trying to swallow a frog and the frog was choking the heron so he would not go down, the title was "NEVER GIVE UP" and this is truly the real world display,, really neat catch

Karim,

great action shot. For my taste it woould have been also nice to see this as a vertical and maybe with a touch of fill in flash. I recommend this not very often, since I am not a fan of it, but the white surroundings let the snake appear a bit dark...

Outstanding capture. I agree it looks a little like the old "Far Side" Cartoon. You did a wonderful job handling the lighting.

Wow! Another good title for this one would be "Death Embrace". The way the frog's legs are braced against the snake is just surreal and just a tad creepy.

Great shot!

I think the shot would also be more powerful if it was cropped square as a closeup and turned 90 degrees.

Hi guys,

Well thanks for the comments, just to let you know that the snake came from down the wall and snapped up the frog from above as its shown. I'm a strong believer in keeping the orientation as it was, but I can see your points. please keep commenting.
