The Structure of Life

I made this image of a spider web in my front lawn yesterday. It was early enough that the dew was still a major part of the web. The dew drops reminded me of the structure of the universe with all objects seperate but interconnected.

1DMK2 with 100 Macro. Evaluative metering at ISO 400 with EV-1. 1/640 and f 4.5. The background is the OOF grass of my lawn.

All comments are most welcome.

Awesome image Ed... Being a web nut/dew nut this is really sweet. I love the organic against the geometric and this image depicts this dichotomy wonderfully. I'm surprized this image hasn't evoked the same in the rest of us - but again maybe not. But don't sweat it - :toast:

Ed,
Wow! :toast: That is absolutely ncredible. I'm really impressed. I have tried and tried to get good spider web pictures. You got the focus and exposure on this just exactly right. Way to go!

Thank you to all who commented on this image. I was lucky enough to have this web at the end of my drive way hanging on to a post and a cement Lion. I happened to notice it when I went out for gas about 8:30 AM on a day that was fogged in until about 10 AM. I set up with my macro lens and started shooting. I made about 10-15 images with various angles over about an hour. I tried to get the BG as OOF as possible and still keep enough DOF to get all the web in focus. As the Sun burned off the fog the lighting improved, but a breeze came up. This particular image was made waiting patiently for the web to settle between breeze gusts. Fortunately, the Sun gave just the right light on the BG and allowed me to capture the refracted image in the dew drops. A few minutes later the Sun burned off the dew and the magic was gone.

Of course my non photographer friends think I just walked up and shot the picture. LOL

Thanks again for all your kind comments.
