We three kings

This is a photoshop collage of the same belted kingfisher from 3 frames. I don't have all the shooting data but the equipment was:

Nikon D2H, 500 f/4, TC 1.7x, tripod, no flash

These were taken on a tributary into the Upper Back Bay reserve in Newport Beach, California. Kingfishers are my favorite birds and I spend a lot of time trying to trek them. This session was unique for me because this bird was hovering about 15 yards above the water for almost a full minute. I have never seen them hover. It was remarkable and I'm amazed I held steady enough for a few decent frames.
