Red Breasted Nuthatch
by Dennis Plank
Activity at my blind pools has been very slow for the last week or so and during our last heavy smoke pall from fires in British Columbia, I didn't even bother going out. We got a change in the weather last night with much cooler temperatures, overcast skies and a nice breeze this morning, so I decided to give it a try. Activity was much better than it's been with half a dozen species coming in and several of some of them at the same time. I was particularly pleased to see this Nuthatch, as I haven't had one this summer.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ball head and Sidekick, f/8, 1/200, iso 2000, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1 1/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 13.6 MP. Taken at 8:35 this morning under cloudy skies.
Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,

With the recent wildfires, I have wondered how birds and animals cope with air pollution especially during migration.
