Leopard and Cub #2 +RP

I liked this scene with the cub wanting to play while the mother was still intent on keeping a watchful eye. I also liked how the pair's coloration stood out against the uniform tones of the grasses. Nikon D 500 and 80-400 lens at 1/800, f/7.1 and ISO 800. Richard

Such a nice moment, Richard, and just about the only way to get a clean view of that cub.  It's a lovely environment.

I like this scene also, Richard!  Definitely an awww moment cool  The way the cats fade from almost obscured by the grass to highly detailed is particularly nice.  Nicely captured!

Wonderful image and timing, Richard. The curl of the cub's tail adds to the cute factor. The open composition is very appealing with all the grasses. You could also crop a bit off the RHS as an option. Just wondering if Mom's eye injury is permanent (?) Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the comments. @Bill: the adult leopard's eye isn't injured, it was closed because the cub was playing near the mother's eye. Richard

Such a cool image.  I agree that the uniform tones of the grass compliments the cats colors well.  I would even consider cropping to remove the the top portion to remove the off color background elements.

An excellent image that, IMHO, could be a little better if a bit were cropped off the top as David suggests. While that may not suit others because it results in a tight crop, it would emphasize that wonderful grass and the tender relationship between mom and cub and remove the slightly distracting top portion. Love it!

David and Jim: thanks for your comments and suggestion to crop to eliminate the greenery. I tried the crop, but the result was too tight for my liking. Instead of cropping, I did a bit of content aware and clone stamping to remove the greenery. This is a very quick edit and I played with the brightness levels as well, so the tonalities between the original and re-post not be a match. I do however like it better without the greenery. Thanks for making me give the photo more thought. Richard

Great image.  The re-crop and fix makes this a really good portrait.  You don't get moments like this very often......
I find it interesting that the cub's coloring seems darker around its head; wondering if that is generally the case or if it was just the lighting. Whatever, I think this was a great image to begin with, and taking that slightly distract vegetation in in the BG put all the focus on the animals. Super  nice!  devil

Just stunning. It is good that the cub stood on its hind legs, as it got him out of the grass for a better look.
