Moon and Venus

Couldn't resist trying for this shot with Venus at the tip of the crescent moon. Taken about an hour after sunset.
Better viewed small; too noisy in the large view.

ISO 500

Unless this is a big crop it should not be noisy at iso500?
Nice idea and I like everything about it except for the noise.

Allen, taking pictures like this is a ton of fun. Finding a balance between ambient light and the reflected light from the Moon and Venus is a big challenge, that you've handled well here. I like the subtle touches of sunset color still in the clouds and the position of the Moon & Venus relative to tree silhouette. Your exposure on the moon and Venus, is good. In case you don't already know it, Moonrise (and in this case Venus) is delayed by about an hour every day.

I like the image and I think the clouds add a lot to the pic. I am ambivalent about the tree. I think I personally would leave it out.

Simple and effective composition. While the main subjects are the Moon and Venus, the tree firms grounds the image and reminds us of the earth too.
