Golden Lady

Shot this morning at Jean Lafitte NP in natural light. As you may know these Golden Silks are so named because of the distinctive color of their webs. These are my favorite of the larger species because of their interesting "leggings" and elegant architecture. It's always a fun challenge for me to get a cooperative BG, manageable DOF at close range, and to catch them during a lull between breezes. Judging from her abdomen this gal has a pretty healthy brood on the way.

7D2 100-400 II @350 on Wimberley I, ISO 400 1/125 f7.1 +2/3EV, almost full frame.

Bill, this is indeed a good looking spider.  Her "leg muffs" are a fine attraction and the background in lovely with it's gentle wash of colors.  The dof looks good also.

Not familiar with this spider, but thing this is a great image of one!  Must look at the larger image to see the fine details and good colors.  Thanks for sharing.
