American Lotus

One of Michigan's biggest and most uncommon wildflowers.  This one was found in an oxbow along the Lake Erie shoreline. I wish for more diffuse light for this type of shot, but you take what nature gives you.  D500 600 mm f4 + 1.4x TC (1/6400 sec at f5.6, Iso 500) Levels, rubber stamp tool to remove several dark spots of debris on petals, slight crop from the rh side for symmetry.

Another beauty - Parts are a little hot, but a very beautiful bloom.
What part of Lake Erie?  I was raised in Toledo and Pt Clinton, on the southern edge Lake Erie.

Jim: I love the light here as I think the shadows give the image more depth and texture. The shaded BG is terrific. Most excellent.>=))>

Really nice, Jim. Our lilies are a different variety with shorter stalks and smaller more obscure seed pods. I've only seen these lotus once in south Louisiana. Well done.

I'm with Bill. The shadows create the depth. The con side is not much detail in the whites. A good shot, nonetheless.

Jim: the details to be seen in the pistil and stamen are excellent and the flower itself is very well positioned against the two tones of the oof background. Well done. Richard
