Cereus Monochrome

Same flower as my last post except taken about 30 minutes earlier before the sun arrived.  Light was much more subdued and colors not all that exciting.  These flowers are pretty much white, so monochrome seemed like the best way to create separation from the background and to try and add some tonal texture.

Overall this feels a bit static to me with the central placement of the subject, but I also think there is a subtle abstract quality to the symmetry.  Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Hi Tony,

Good choice on going with a monochrome image. Nice contrast and lots of subtle details worthy of examination in the larger version. Well done.........................Jim

My thoughts are:
  1. I like the previous image better, an explosion of light and color
  2. I like this as a more formal straightforward representation, with a good tonal range, but I don't think it reaches the mood of the dynamism monochrome is capable of. As you said, a bit static.

I personally prefer this monochrome of the previous post, Tony. Really nice, clean look with the the flower standing out beautifully from the bg. Well done.
