Rock Ptarmigan
by Dennis Plank
Another from the Nome trip (there will be quite a few). Willow Ptarmigan were all along the roads in the morning and evening, but Rock Ptarmigan were a little more difficult to find. However, we had two cooperative ones on a place called Red Knot Hill along the road to Teller on one morning. This was the second of them.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 516 mm, tripod with ball head and Sidekick, f/8, 1/3200, iso 1000, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC. A slight crop off the right and the top for composition and a couple of isolated stones that protruded into the frame in the lower left removed. Slight crop from the right and top for composition. Some burning and dodging in the bird as the light was starting to get a bit harsh. Taken at 10:03 am on June 7th.
