This is a portrait of a man reading scripture outside of one of the rock hewn churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia. I liked the quietness and simplicity of the scene. Olympus E-M1 and 25 mm lens at f/2.2, 1/250 and ISO 200. Richard

Richard, the scene is a snapshot of life in another world. The sitting position looks a bit uncomfortable on the rock or granite formation, but at the same time appears to be restful and peaceful as well.
Looks like he moved his hand slightly, but not any nit just shows a bit of life in a still shot.

Beautiful documentary image, as I might expect from you, Richard. The brightly colored scripture book is fascinating, and an interesting story, too.

Paul and Bill: thank you for commenting. Paul: the man is holding and flicking back and forth a wooden handle to which are attached long strands of material. That accounts for the movement you see. Richard

The simplicity, demonstrated faith, setting, and subtle colours are all exceptional.
I think most -if not all - of these images you have posted are superb. You might consider entering them in the "Street Photography" contest I posted in the Forums.
I didn't read every word of the rules, but I don't recall any mention of US-only images. I believe you have some winners here.
