I witnessed some of the most beautiful scenes ever in my life on a drive between the Scottish highlands and the Isle of Skye last winter.

Beautiful image. The snow covered branches are the icing and the sunstar is the candle on this nice cake. I think a crop of just the right side without the main trunk would also make a great image. devil

I like how the light is penetrating the mist here. The backlit tree and branches have been handled well. Nice work.

The colors and sun star make this one for me. Just lovely, and the light is also perfect. Looks like a beautiful lake in the background. I can almost feel the chill in the air.

Ooh Scotland. I am glad to see Scotland behaved itself for you for a change as you are quite right when on rare occasions Scotland does behave itself the light and beauty is comparable with anywhere in the world as is clearly shown in your photograph.

The warm light on the snow-laden branches contrasts nicely against the cooler blues of the background. The small star in the reflection along the bottom edge is a nice perk also. There is one greenish flare spot in the lower middle of the image.

There is so much going on here ... every single portion of the frame is interesting in itself ... yet there is a consistent form and design to the overall composition. The fine detail, the gorgeous light and the lovely soft colors are working wonderfully.
