Brown Butterfly, taken at the Butterfly Place in Westford, MA.  I was testing a new lens and this was the perfect place. So this was not staged but it was in an enclosed greenhouse.

F 5/6
ISO 4000
Shutter Priority

Norma, this is a great look at this bf, with good sharpness throughout the wing and body.  I'm also enjoying the green reflections along the bf's belly.  The light green of the perch seems unnatural, but I wasn't there.

A nice shot of the butterfly, Norma.  The square format works well for composition.  I agree with Mark, that green does seem unnatural, but I too wasn't there.  With him perched, you may could have got by with a much less shutter speed, and so a lower ISO as well, which might would have made that color more natural, and, keep the noise down more in that background.

Hi Norma,

Format and comp is ideal and your skill with the new lens has produced a fine image.  I like the BG for this shot. The green is a sponge which serves as a feeder for these captive butterflies..........................Jim
