Winter Sunset

Stormy winter sunset at Garrapata State Park, Big Sur coastline, CA. I live close enough to visit frequently but haven't been able to get a decent sunset image from here. It's either clear, overcast, foggy, hurricane winds, rain, etc, etc. Lucked out on this evening back in February, 2011.
Nikon D700, 24-70 @ 26mm, f13 @ 1/15, ISO 160

Although I'll admit that weather events do have some luck to them, you still have to keep attacking or flat being out there to make things happen. A wonderful take from this area, Reno. I like the ominous look overall. Seems to add perfectly with the FG sea & wave action........ laugh

btw: seems like a lifetime ago since we all had dinner at Nicely's years back now....... blush

Reno, beautiful light and shore action. If it were mine I'd consider a crop of the bottom third, bringing the wave action and clouds more into play.

This is a nicely dramatic sunset view along the CA coast, Reno. You've balanced the sea, sky and land nicely. The high contrast between the far ridge and the sky just above it is a bit of a distraction. Some dodging of the ridge might help that.

Nicely done, Reno. I like the vibrant color in the sky contrasting with the ominous looking darker clouds. I also like your choice of shutter speed to show the detail in the ocean. The power of the waves really comes across nicely.
