California Sea Lions

How do you make an interesting image from a tightly packed group of sleeping sea lions?  I struggled with this on the coast at La Jolla, California a week ago.  I tried this, getting down very low and shooting across the top of them.  To me, it suggests a coast "paved" with sea lions!  Comments would be appreciated.  Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM, AV exposure F/9 at 1/800th, ISO 2500.

I do like the jumbled sea of bodies. These guys are hard to photograph. I had the same issue when we came across a group in the Great Bear Rainforest.

Interesting compositional choice.  You could also crop to pano, removing the upper third of the frame.

Neat capture.  I agree with taking away some of the neutral bright top.
